While male and female surgery residents held similar career goals, there was a significant difference when asked about future salary predictions.
by Doximity, which drew on the responses of nearly 90,000 licensed US doctors across six years, found the physician gender gap to be 26%, with women making, on average, $90,490 less than their male colleagues.

They also had the same future interest in research, becoming a program director or a department chair, and being recognized as a leader in their field.”
