Wednesday was marked by debate and protest on the Texas State University campus as student groups took to campus in the aftermath of the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Turning Point USA's Texas State chapter welcomed Chloe Cole, a conservative influencer who gained notoriety for "detransitioning" after undergoing gender affirming care as a teen.

Wednesday, she answered questions from supporters and opponents about Charlie Kirk's legacy and transgender youth. Dozens of students participated in the event, exactly two weeks after Kirk's assassination during his own debate-format event. "I'd be remiss to say that our numbers won't be dampened a little bit because of the political climate," said student Christian Harman. "It's a scary time."Students like Allie Chevalier also participated to challenge Cole's positions. "I'm happy to see that it hasn't gotten out of hand and that it is very clearly a safe environment to speak your views and talk about this," she said.ousting of a student"We believe that Black students are under attack online, and even by our own administration," said Charles Onwukwe, president of Black Men United. Texas State University President Kelly Damphousse announced the student in the video was no longer a student at the university, hours after Governor Greg Abbott called for the university to expel him on 'X' last week. "The individual is no longer a student at TXST. Federal law prevents the university from commenting further on individual student conduct matters," theCampus police were present at both events, and both remained peaceful."Under Texas State’s Expressive Activity Policy, students and employees have the right to peacefully gather in the common outdoor areas on campus to engage in expressive activity—or to listen and observe—so long as it’s lawful and doesn’t disrupt the university’s operations."
