Dozens of kids, teachers and advocates hopped over to Governor Josh Shapiro’s mansion Tuesday for the 2024 Annual Easter Egg Hunt.This was the second year the Governor and First Lady Shapiro partnered with Pre-K for PA for the egg hunt, according to the Governor’s Office.
“We're just really fortunate. We have a great relationship with the Shapiro administration, and appreciate his support for high quality Pre-K,” said Jen debell, Executive Director of PA Association of the Education for Young Children. Shapiro's 2024-2025 budget proposal would include $30 million for the Pre-K Counts program and $2.7 million in funding for the Head Start Supplemental Program to raise wages for staff.
At the event, the governor and the First Lady also attended various stations with the students, including a reading station, a live goat station, and a live bunny station, the Governor’s Office said in a press release. The stations were offered through partnerships with the State Library of Pennsylvania, the Steinmetz Family Farm of Berks County, and the PA Farm Show.
