A 16-year-old student was stabbed inside his Yonkers school during a fight Friday morning, police and school officials confirmed.
The teenager, who was stabbed on the second floor of Yonkers Middle High School before 9 a.m., is expected to be OK.
According to Yonkers Police, the 16-year-old student was assaulted by two 17-year-old students. Allegedly, the dispute originated in the area of a second-floor bathroom escalated to physical violence when the two older students punched and kicked the younger student, and then one of the older students stabbed the younger student with a knife.Get Tri-state area news and weather forecasts to your inbox.School security responded to stop the fight, according to police.
The two other students, both males, are in custody, police said. All live in Yonkers. "The situation was quickly brought under control by school personnel. There is no threat to public safety," Yonkers Public Schools Communications Officer Jerilynne Fierstein said."The school's Pupil Support professionals are available to assist students or staff.
