Sha Reh, a 17-year-old student from Granger High School, who was critically injured after being shot in the head during a family murder-suicide, is awake and recovering. Reh is expected to be released from the hospital soon. His father is believed to have killed his mother, three other children, and himself.

Granger High School is celebrating “One of the most fabulous miracles of the season,” 17-year-old student Sha Reh who was found shot in the head in critical condition a week before Christmas is awake, recovering and “soon to be released from the hospital.”

Officials with the West Valley City Police Department said Reh was shot in the head by his father inside the family home. They said Sha was an honors student at Granger High School with a 3.9 grade point average, and had already completed the requirements to graduate. They said his injury caused what they called “new vision loss” and said he could not see due to ongoing trauma from his gunshot wound."With the gift of time and additional miracles, we have hope that he will recover his vision, but we are prepared to support him in any event. As a family, our faith is in Jesus Christ, not specific outcomes. We know that Sha Reh and our family will be supported and ultimately delivered from this trial,” the statement read.
