Youth shot at Oakland school, another youth sought
OAKLAND — A teen was shot and wounded at an East Oakland school Monday afternoon and another boy was later taken into custody, authorities said.
It was not immediately known if the shooting happened outside on the campus or in a school building. A school district spokesman referred an inquiry about the shooting to the police department. Police officials identified the victim as a student but it was not clear if the suspect attends classes there.
The juvenile suspect ran away after the shooting but officers “were able to quickly and safely take the shooter into custody as well as provide medical aid to the student,” Oakland police Chief LeRonne Armstrong said at a press conference Monday afternoon.
