Student group tells govt to abolish oppressive university act
A PUBLIC university student alliance wants a rethink on the Universities and University Act 1971 which it says continues to curtail freedom of expression, despite the changes made over the years.
The New Students Movement Alliance of Malaysia said any plans by the Higher Education Ministry to make changes to a few articles in the act will not change issues related to freedom of expression and autonomy of colleges.
