If approved, the mixed-use development will see 500 student rooms as well as ground floor commercial space built inside an empty city centre building on Carrick Street.

Plans have been submitted for new accommodation which would house hundreds of students in Glasgow 's Broomielaw area.

The proposal submitted to Glasgow City Council addresses a 'shortfall' in student beds in the city, after a recent study claimed that the city has the largest imbalance between supply and demand for Purpose-Built Student Accommodation accommodation in the UK. David Saunders, Managing Director at Valeo Management Europe, said: "We are delighted to bring forward plans for new purpose-built student accommodation in Glasgow city centre."The Broomielaw and wider River Clyde Waterfront is undergoing significant transformation, and we hope that our plans will go somewhere to supporting this transition as well as providing much needed student rooms in Glasgow.
