Central TX at risk for severe storms & flash flooding Wed. PM/eve; threats: large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain (2-4'+), esp. along & E of I-35.

Includes Mason County until 4 am and the rest of our area until 2 am Thurs. Hail, high winds, isolated tornado threat, flooding rain risks.Flood Watch until 7 AM Thursday for the Austin Metro and most of Central Texas . Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall could lead to flooding.

Rain and storms will develop in the afternoon hours across portions of Central Texas, then the dry line out west will spark additional storms as we head into the later evening/overnight hours.The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted ALL of Central Texas under a level 2 of 5 risk for a few strong/severe storms through the afternoon and evening hours.Large hail to very large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats this afternoon and evening.

Make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings and stay plugged in to radar/social media updates if you have any plans this evening.Flood Watch until 7 AM Thursday for the Austin Metro and most of Central Texas. Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall could lead to flooding with some isolated spots potentially seeing up to 5".The next and perhaps biggest risk of the forecast Wednesday is the potential for torrential rainfall that could lead to flash flooding.

The Weather Prediction Center has highlighted most areas along and east of I-35 under a level 3 of 4 risk for potential flash flooding this evening into the overnight hours. A level 2 of 4 risk is out for the remainder of the region.Our atmosphere is very conducive for heavy rainfall Wednesday into Thursday. With the very muggy air, storm fuel and potential slow moving nature of some of these storms, could lead to areas seeing flash flooding to streams, creeks and roads.

Multiple rounds of heavy rain could impact some of the same locations ending with isolated areas potentially seeing 2-4"+ of rainfall in a short period of time. If you come up on a flooded roadway, remember that you don't know if the road has been washed away or not underneath the water. Flooding is the one of the biggest weather killers in Texas. Turn around, don't drown!
