On Saturday, the Houston Astros visited the Cleveland Guardians for their second matchup in a three-game series on the road.

Yainer Diaz and Jake Meyers started the frame with a single and a double, respectively, to get on third and second with no outs, giving Astros’ fans hope to get on the board. However, two strikeouts later, the Astros needed to capitalize. Jeremy Pena hit a groundball into the infield that looked like a routine out, but he accelerated to the bag, diving to beat the throw and secure a 1-0 lead for Houston with a highlight play.In the top of the sixth, the Astros added to their lead. After Victor Caratini reached first on a walk, Diaz homered into left field to make it a 3-0 ballgame. The Guardians responded in the bottom of the sixth, when a single by Gabriel Arias brought home Jose Ramirez. The Guardians loaded the bases with just one out, leading Hunter Brown to be pulled by the Astros. Reliever Steven Okert took the bump, striking out the next two batters he faced to help Houston escape the frame with a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Ramirez tied it up with a two-run bomb into right field to make the score 3-3.In the top of the 10th inning, Meyers put the Astros back in front when he scored on a wild pitch. Isaac Paredes helped add another insurance run with a single to bring home Jake Melton. Bennett Sousa pitched the 10th inning for Houston, and he was able to secure three outs to secure the win for the ‘Stros. The win clinches the series for the Astros, as they now move to 36-28 on the season. The Guardians fell to 33-30 on the year. The teams will meet again for the final time in this road trip tomorrow.
