Footage shows homes shaking during a 7.3 magnitude earthquake that rocked parts of northeastern Japan, according to the USGS. A tsunami warning was put into effect following the quake.
A tsunami is not expected in California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia or Alaska, according to the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center.
More than three hours after the earthquake, there were no reports of widespread damage or casualties.Philip Fong/AFP via Getty Images As a result of the earthquake, one of Japan's Tohoku Shinkansen high-speed rail-line trains derailed with 100 passengers onboard, according to the Kyodo News agency. No injuries were reported, the agency said.
