A strong cold front will sweep through Alabama on Sunday, bringing with it rain, strong storms, and a significant drop in temperatures. Parts of the state are at risk for severe weather.
A strong cold front will bring rain and the possibility of some stronger storms to parts of Alabama starting later in the day on Sunday. Areas in yellow have a Level 2 out of 5 risk. There will be a Level 1 risk in the areas in dark green. Look for temperatures to take a sharp dive after a cold front passes overnight Sunday. It is also expected to be windy statewide.

The weather service in Huntsville will be watching temperatures closely overnight, because there is a very small possibility that it could be cold enough to produce some freezing rain over a few isolated cold pockets in northeast Alabama from late tonight into Sunday morning. Forecasters as of Saturday morning believed the better chance for any wintry precipitation will be farther north over Tennessee.During the day on Sunday a southerly wind is expected to bring in more moisture from the Gulf as a strong cold front approaches from the west. The weather service said temperatures will be slow to rise on Sunday thanks to the clouds and rain. Some may not see their high temperatures on Sunday until after sunset.Here are Sunday's expected high temperatures, which may not be reached until late in the day for some areas.The most likely time for storms will be Sunday evening into the nighttime hours.
