Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May last year and underwent a mastectomy and reconstruction surgery a month later
Amy Dowden, the Strictly Come Dancing star, has commemorated a year since her first surgery following her cancer diagnosis. Diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May last year, Amy discovered a lump in her breast in April 2023, just before jetting off to the Maldives for her honeymoon with husband Ben Jones, also a professional dancer.
However, due to the nature of her cancer, she won't receive an "all clear" until five years have passed. In the post, Amy shared a photo of herself in the hospital, sitting up in bed and bravely giving a thumbs-up to the camera. The Welsh dancer captioned the image: "Can't believe it's a year since surgery! Happy 1st birthday to my new cancer-free boobie! ! ! " She also added a GIF urging people to "Check Yourself".
She has now revealed her debut book, titled Dancing In The Rain, set to launch later this year. On her Instagram Story, the 33 year old posted an image of her hand covering the title page, embellished with a "coming soon" GIF and captioned: "Eekkk."
