Motsi Mabuse has hit out following the Olympics gender row involving female boxer Imane Khelif following reports that the Olympian had been 'born a male'

Khelif has been the subject of a horrendous wave of abuse and criticism after defeating Angela Carini in the last 16 of the women's welterweight category at the Paris Games. Carini abandoned the bout after 46 seconds. Some complained afterwards about the fact Khelif had failed eligibility tests run by the Russia-led International Boxing Association . The IOC are running the boxing events at this year's Games and cleared Khelif to take part.

In view of her 602,000 Instagram followers, she fumed: "Racism and transphobia will never end but we call it out!!!!!" A second post read: "Khelif and Lin are two-time Olympians who fought in the Tokyo Games with no controversy. Lin has been an elite-level amateur boxer for a decade and Khelif for six years," which Motsi had highlighted.

In a third post, Motsi fumed: "The discussion is absolutely disgusting. She has been boxing in competitions for a while. She has also lost matches. She was born as a girl. The Algerian Olympic Committee issued a statement Wednesday condemning what it termed 'lies' and 'unethical' targeting and maligning of our esteemed athlete, Imane Khelif, with baseless propaganda from certain foreign media outlets.
