Giovanni Pernice finally speaks out after his feud with Amanda Abbington came to a head when the actress claimed the had PTSD as a result of his training and asked for footage from rehersals.
Strictly Come Dancing bosses are reportedly 'undecided' about whether to give Giovanni Pernice a celebrity partner for the next series, after he faced accusations from former contestants about his teaching style.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: 'Bosses are undecided about whether or not they will give Gio a partner, just to take the heat off him. He’s still very much loved by all the head honchos. 'But the big cheeses are wondering if it might be tough to find him a partner, given the reports about his harsh teaching style and the fact anyone who’s paired with him next will have to answer questions about his behaviour.
Sources claim Amanda, Ranvir Singh and Laura Whitmore had an 'emotional summit' where they 'compared notes' about their time working with the dancer on the show. It comes after it was revealed that three of Giovanni's past dance partners are fuming as they claim he is 'untouchable' as the BBC is standing behind him
'One of the reasons they wanted to meet up was to try and work on a way forward because they have no intention of just backing down and letting this just fade away. An insider told The Sun: 'There is every possibility all three could take it further and formally complain to the BBC, but for now they're comforting each other.'
However, a source close to Giovanni told the publication: 'Gio finds some of these allegations deeply unfair and offensive. He believes he's done nothing wrong, and simply wants to get the best out of his partners.' 'I was placed with a dance partner I was extremely uncomfortable with and in the end I felt broken, I cried every day. And I really was broken, both mentally and physically, by the end.'
Appearing on the Mirror's Invite Only podcast alongside fellow dancer Anton Du Beke, he broke his silence on Amanda's explosive exit from the series.While judge Anton added: 'I thought you and Amanda were marvellous. I thought you were terrific' and compared the Sherlock actress' talents to 2019 winner Kelvin Fletcher .
He continued: 'There's no specific way that you are, or have to be with your celebrity. You make the most of their strengths so the only thing that's constant is the fact that you have to do a show on Saturday night.' Giovanni replied: 'Its not just about the winning, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I think it is a shame, as I have said in the past I think Amanda could have gone all the way to the final, great talent.'
It comes after MailOnline exclusively revealed that Amanda had dropped her complaint to the BBC and had not contacted the corporation on the matter further. One show insider told the Mail: 'The whole thing was baffling but when Amanda contacted the BBC, she wanted some answers. Amanda left the show during week five in October. It has reportedly taken months for her to recover from her time on the programme and she has apparently needed therapy following the 'behaviour she was exposed to.'
An inside source told The Telegraph : 'It could be that she didn't know what she let herself in for. He was quite tough and she found that difficult. If she wasn't very well, that wouldn't have helped.
