There has been an outbreak of the infection in the UK.
UK health officials have been working closely with schools across the country to try and eliminate the spread of Strep A after a number of children have sadly died due to the infection.

Strep A, or Group A Streptococcus as it’s also known, is a bacteria most commonly found in the throat and nose that can lead to numerous infections such as scarlet fever, tonsillitis and impetigo. Navin Khosla, Medical Writer at NiceRx has commented on the symptoms of Strep A and what to do if you think your child has the infection. The expert said: "The UK Health Security Agency has reported a higher number of cases of Strep A than they usually would around this time, which has left many people feeling anxious and wanting to know how they can spot the signs of the infection.
