Residents have spoken out on the ‘nightmare situation’ which has left them in limbo for years

Residents on a road where properties could have been demolished for HS2 to be built have spoken out on the ‘nightmare situation’ which has left them in limbo for years. Nearly 70 properties on Bonsall Street in Long Eaton were subjected to demolition due to HS2 and neighbours had been living with ‘sleepless nights and stress’ due to the uncertainty of the plans.

Residents on Bonsall Street have branded the project a ‘terrible waste of efforts, and money’. “We never knew where we stood, we didn’t know where to sell up,” said resident Arthur Plimmer. “I think it’s a good thing they’ve cancelled it and will invest. I drove trains for 43 years and it’s good that they are investing. I want to see more money invested into things like education. Some sort jobs for the kids, there’s nothing around here for them hardly."

“I feel that it’s been a terrible waste of everybody’s time, efforts, and money. The money could of been spent elsewhere on better projects and better things for this country.
