A recent development may find The Street Fighter franchise able to redeem its poorly received 1994 movie and improve its live-action record.
Reports of a gold mine deal and a prospective Street Fighter live-action revival could mean that there is hope for rectifying the franchise's original 1994 film. Manufactured initially as an arcade fighter video game in the late '80s, Capcom's Street Fighter developed into a booming legacy that would include dozens of subsequent video games, adaptations into television and film, and a deeply rooted cult following.

Even more so, Street Fighter had actor/martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme and icon Raul Julia playing the roles of Guile and M. Bison respectively.
Recently, Legendary Entertainment, the production company behind major movies from Interstellar to Dune: Part One and Two, struck a deal with Capcom acquiring the live-action film rights to Street Fighter.
Street Fighter's Revival Rights Hint At A Hopeful Future What's particularly more exciting is that the live-action rights obtained by Legendary are inclusive of film and television. This could mean the potential for a long-form series, or even an expanded universe, may rest in the future of Street Fighter enthusiasts. The reception of Legendary's earliest projects will be critical because of Street Fighter's shoddy live-action history.
