Someone called 911 to report two brothers who were running a lemonade stand, but their plan backfired when the emergency responders became happy customers. KANSAS CITY, Kan.

- Someone called 911 to report two young brothers who were running a lemonade stand, but their plan backfired when the emergency responders became paying customers. Siblings Parez and Jakkhi Reese spent years running lemonade stands on their property to make extra money, but their efforts were almost halted when an unknown neighbor or passerby called 911 to report the children's business.

To the caller's chagrin, when the first responders arrived at the lemonade stand, not only did they choose not to shut down the boys' business, but they happily contributed to the cause and purchased some drinks and snacks for themselves. Officer Morgan Reed was the first to arrive after receiving the 911 call, and she said she quickly started calling for backup to encourage her colleagues to stop by to help out the business.

"I was calling everybody," Reed said. "'Make sure you guys stop by the lemonade stand.

' Then whenever they weren't busy, a couple people were able to swing by. " In roughly 30 minutes, dozens of officers had purchased food from the kids' stand. In total, they raised around $280.

"I think a lot of us were kids growing up in this city," Reed said. "This was the thing that we always looked forward to as kids, these friendly police interactions. " Parez said he wants to spend the money to buy a new e-bike and help the homeless, and Jakkhi said he wants to buy diapers for his nephew and niece.
