Caleb McLaughlin has officially joined a new mystery AI thriller directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt for Netflix.
Stranger Things heads toward its final chapter. The actor, best known for playing Lucas Sinclair in the hit sci-fi series, has officially joined a newfor the streamer.
The upcoming film also brings together several big Hollywood names both in front of and behind the camera. , the untitled Netflix movie will be directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who also co-wrote the script with Kieran Fitzgerald. Natasha Lyonne shares credit on the project as well. While Netflix has not revealed plot details yet, the film is described as an AI thriller and production is expected to begin later this summer.
McLaughlin is joining a cast that already includes Get Help fame, Rachel McAdams. In addition, Jeff Daniels, Joel Edgerton and Nnamdi Asomugha have signed on for the movie. Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman’s T-Street Productions are taking on the production duties, continuing their partnership with Netflix after the success of the Knives Out films. The movie marks another Netflix collaboration for several cast members.
Daniels recently appeared in the 2025 limited series A Man in Full, while Edgerton earned strong reviews for Train Dreams, a Sundance title later picked up by Netflix that eventually landed a Best Picture Oscar nomination. For McLaughlin, the new role arrives during a busy stretch in his career. He recently wrapped the final season of Stranger Things, which aired its series finale during the holidays. Outside the Netflix world, he also voiced the lead character in Sony Animation’s Goat.
