Now, however, as the wait for Stranger Things season 5 continues, creator Matt Duffer tells Variety some of what's to come for Noah Schnapp's Will in the upcoming batch of episodes. “Will really takes center stage again in 5. This emotional arc for him is what we feel is going to hopefully tie the whole series together. Will is used to being the young one, the introverted one, the one that’s being protected. So part of his journey, it’s not just sexuality — it’s Will coming into his own as a young man.”
What Role Will Could Play In Stranger Things Season 5 Duffer doesn't provide any concrete information regarding how Will might factor into the story of season 5, but the Stranger Things season 4 finale teases some of what's to come. Notably, the final episode of the previous season sees Will get a tingle on the back of his neck, suggesting that he still bears a powerful connection to the Upside Down.
After playing a smaller role in season 1, with the show mostly following other characters as they attempt to rescue him from the Upside Down, season 2 gives Will much more to do. Will's connection to the Upside Down and the Mindflayer was a major story point, and the return of his neck tingle could suggest that season 5 will bring the monster back in full force.
