🔴 Spoiler Alert | Coronation Street boasts a fabulously talented teenage cast, and they’re set to be at the forefront of a huge storyline through 2023, according to show boss Iain MacLeod.
‘We’re working with charities to make sure we get the detail right and fundamentally its just about those brilliant young actors being the superstars they are, then reaching out into the wider street through people who are connected to them.’
This is not the first time Coronation Street have put their teenage cast at the forefront of the show. 2021 saw a big storyline that involved Nina and Seb getting attacked simply because of the way they looked, which had repercussions for many of the Weatherfield residents.This new storyline will have a similar impact, Iain has revealed.
‘The Seb and Nina story was ostensibly about an assault on a teenager that drew in Roy, Abi, a whole cross generational group of characters. Those are our best stories, the ones that don’t live in one demographic corner. ‘This is exactly one of those. Huge stuff for those directly involved then parents/loved ones/families/extended friendship groups and ripples spread out across the whole show.’
