Heavy downpours, frequent lightning and gusty winds will be the main concern. Isolated tornadoes will also be possible.
There is a Level 1 marginal risk for severe storms from Washington County through Mobile County and into Baldwin County. We have a Level 2 slight risk for severe weather over our Mississippi counties of Greene, George, and Jackson. The greatest risk will be tonight through around 3 a.m. on Thursday morning. thunderstorms with damaging winds and perhaps an isolated tornado will be possible.
We also have some coastal hazards, including a high ripped current risk. There is also a high surf advisory and effect for tomorrow and a coastal flood advisory and effect for tonight. We clear rapidly on Thursday and good conditions are expected through the weekend. The days will be mild with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Overnight lows will be much cooler with temps in the 50s. Our next chance of rain comes early next week, followed by a significant cold front that could bring colder air into the area by Thursday and Friday.
In the tropics, we are monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone 19 in the Caribbean. This will likely become tropical storm Sara as it heads towards Honduras. Land interaction could limit intensification, as it may stall along or over the coast of Honduras. Eventually, the system begins to head north Northwest and then north ahead of the same front which should move through our area next week. We don’t see it that’s a threat to us at this time, but will monitor the forecast for any changes.
