Prepare for a weekend shift with storms on Sunday night, followed by a significantly colder week starting Monday.
We have lots of changes in the forecast with the potential of storms on Sunday night, followed by cold air next week. Saturday looks like a decent weather day with partly cloudy skies and temperatures getting into the upper 50s. Sunday will be the beginning of a chance of some showers. This will start in the morning with a rain chance at 50%. We could see a few embedded thunderstorms during the day on Sunday, but severe weather it’s not expected until Sunday night.
The Storm Prediction Center has us in a Level 1 marginal risk for severe weather in our area Sunday night. Our Mississippi counties of Greene, George, and Jackson are highlighted with a Level 2 slight risk for severe weather. Isolated severe storms are possible especially late Sunday night and early Monday morning as a squall line move through the area. Things turn substantially cooler behind this line of showers and storms. It gets cold on Monday with daytime highs in the 40s. Wind chills Monday morning will be in the 20s with breezy conditions expected throughout the day. The cold nights begin on Monday night with freezing temperatures. Overnight lows will be generally in the mid to upper 20s each night next week through Thursday.Be prepared to bundle up and we may have to protect the pipes next week.
