Parts of North Texas were hit with strong storms Wednesday afternoon, and more rain is expected through early Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
In some Denton County areas, quarter-size hail fell early Wednesday afternoon, said Steve Fano, a weather service meteorologist. The stormsRain fell in heavy sheets in downtown Dallas as the storm moved southeast, and a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for northern Ellis County until 4:30 p.m. Fano said the storms over Dallas, which produced small hail, were expected to weaken closer to sunset, but added that more storms are possible overnight.
