Loose forward Evan Roos is one more example of DHL Stormers boss John Dobson’s nous in nurturing schoolboy stars into potent professionals, writesThe dynamic Roos on Thursday became the latest player to be confirmed as remaining in Cape Town until 2027, following the announcement of similar extensions for Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Dan du Plessis and Ruben van Heerden.
He credits Dobson’s leadership and understanding of the Cape Town rugby landscape as major factors behind players’ desire to join or stay with the Stormers. “Dobson, who coached the Western Province U21s and the Western Province Vodacom Cup and Currie Cup teams to titles, has prospered as the head coach of the Stormers and seamlessly slotted into his role as director of rugby, a portfolio that includes his continuation as the Stormers head coach.
