Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Matt Hammer says there will be showers this afternoon ahead of numerous downpours and possible thunderstorms this evening.

: Thunderstorm chances increase late-afternoon and into this evening. A few storms may be strong to severe with heavy rain, strong wind and hail.- Mainly cloudy with areas of dense fog this morning. Scattered showers and an isolated downpour at any point in the day. There is a better chance for more widespread heavy rain and strong thunderstorms after 4pm and through this evening.

Storms should weaken a bit as they move East across Long Island. Highs around 70 degrees and humid. A few scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm can linger overnight. Otherwise, gradually drying out with some clearing into Tuesday morning. Lows near 62 degrees.WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny with highs around 75 degrees. A stray shower cannot be ruled out, but it is looking drier. Lows near 56 degrees.FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs around 72 degrees. Lows near 55 degrees.
