A Met Office amber weather warning is set to come into force at 12pm
Storm Babet is currently battering Greater Manchester with heavy rain and strong winds - with the stormy conditions set to continue for most of the day.
Although the showers look set to ease slightly with some cloudy patches forecast through the afternoon, light rain showers look set to fall all evening until the early hours. Saturday is forecast to be another wet day in our region, with scattered rain showers are forecast through the morning. It covers Manchester and areas to the east of the city, including Tameside, Stockport, Oldham and Rochdale. The Met Office says the areas covered by the warning should expect 'persistent heavy rain' with the 'likelihood of some flooding and disruption'.
Hundreds of homes were evacuated in Scotland last night as a rare red warning has been in place for the area around Dundee and Forfar since 6pm on Thursday night. In Brechin today, flood defences were breached with parts of the area now only accessible by boat.
