Samsung has reportedly told staff to stop using generative-AI tools such as ChatGPT and Bard over concerns that they pose a security risk.

Samsung has told staff to stop using generative-AI tools such as ChatGPT and Bard over concerns that they pose a security risk, Bloomberg reported on Monday.

Related Videos ChatGPT, like other generative-AI tools, is partly trained on submitted data, so anything Samsung feeds into it could turn up in a response to an inquiry made by another user anywhere in the world, though ChatGPT developer OpenAI recently added an incognito mode that allows users to block their inputs from being used for AI model training.

“Interest in generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT has been growing internally and externally,” Samsung’s memo said. “While this interest focuses on the usefulness and efficiency of these platforms, there are also growing concerns about security risks presented by generative AI.” The memo said that Samsung is currently “reviewing security measures to create a secure environment for safely using generative AI to enhance employees’ productivity and efficiency,” but said that until the measures have been agreed upon, the company is “temporarily restricting the use of generative AI.”
