Trying to do and be everything during quarantine is causing a hindrance to our wellbeing as we try to navigate out of this pandemic.

Focus On One Thing

Are you waking up every morning asking yourself, “what else can I do today to be more productive or creative than the day before?” I have been totally guilty of this, but it didn’t work in my favor because I added too much to my plate without being able to fully execute on each project. Instead of focusing on five things- focus on one. Sure, you may have the capacity to complete five things at once, but as the saying goes it’s better to be a master of one then a master of none.

Focusing on one thing at a time ensures you have a higher chance of completing the task or project while being able to master it. It’s not say you shouldn’t try more than one thing. You should. Just don’t try doing it all at once. For example, you may want to learn gardening and interior design at the same time. Instead of executing them at coincidingly you could set a goal of learning how to garden in three weeks while reading a book about interior decorating.

The problem lies within the phrase “have to.” We don’t have to do anything actually- we get to. Replacing “have to” with “get to” makes all the difference when approaching our days even after quarantine is over. Thinking or saying “have to” feels like a burden while “get to” feels like an enjoyment. One would hope you are enjoying your extra curricular activities, but something as simple as your mindset can turn an enjoyment into a burden.

Many of us are experiencing some type of loss from the impact of coronavirus, but are still grateful for the things we do have. Tapping into that gratitude on a daily basis will also help transform your outlook on life. This also ties back to saying or thinking that you “get to” do things as it comes from a place of gratitude. Living in a state of gratitude can shift the way we approach our tasks and projects as we navigate this new normal.

Quarantine Can't Stop You from Drinking Rosé All SummerQuarantine Can't Stop You from Drinking Rosé All SummerThis is a very different rosé season from any we’ve had in the past. Because of the pandemic, we’re unable to swarm outdoor café tables and sip together while forking bite after bite of calamari, and any poolside or porch rosé-drinking is happening either alone or six feet away from anyone else. But that doesn’t mean that you should write off the pink stuff for the springtime. Actually, I’d argue that rosé is exactly what we all need right now, because it’s such a beautiful, delicious reminder that sunny days absolutely do lie ahead.
