The parents of a child who died in a school bus crash involving a Haitian immigrant spoke out on Tuesday night.

Nathan Clark , 11-year-old Aiden Clark 's father, talks about politicians using his son's name for political gain. He said that needs to stop. His wife stands with Nathan Tuesday at a Springfield City Commission meeting. SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The parents of a child who died in a school bus crash involving a Haitian immigrant spoke out on Tuesday night to a packed crowd of people attending a Springfield City Commission meeting.

Eleven-year-old Aiden Clark died on the first day of school in 2023 when the school bus in which he was riding was struck head-on by a vehicle driven by Hermanio Joseph. Joseph, 36 at the time, was living legally in the Springfield area after having emigrated from Haiti. However, he did not have a valid Ohio driver's license.

"Using Aiden as a political tool is, to say the least, reprehensible, for any political purpose," father Nathan Clark said to the crowd. He urged politicians such as Bernie Moreno, Chip Roy, JD Vance, and Donald Trump to stop using his son's name for political gain. "This needs to stop, now. They can vomit all the hate they want about illegal immigrants, the border crisis, and even untrue claims about fluffy pets being ravaged and eaten by community members. However, they are not allowed to, nor have they ever been allowed, to mention Aiden Clark from Springfield, Ohio. I will listen to them one more time, to hear their apologies."Clark said his son wasn't murdered. Instead, he was accidentally killed by an immigrant from Haiti.

"In order to live like Aiden, you need to accept everyone, choose to shine, make the difference, lead the way and be the inspiration," Clark said as his wife held up a T-shirt with those words printed upon it."Please stop the hate," Clark said, as he pledged to his son to make a difference in his honor. "Live like Aiden."
