Stockdale volleyball rides to state championship behind LeAnn Wise's record effort
Riding a record-setting effort by sophomore outside hitter LeAnn Wise, Stockdale defeated Boyd 29-27, 23-25, 25-21 25-21 to win the Class 3A Division II state championship on Friday at Culwell Center in Garland . Wise recorded 47 kills – a state-tournament record for all classes – on 118 attempts with only eight errors. Wise broke the previous record set by Class 2A Fayetteville ’s Brooklyn Jaeger in 2021.
Let it all out.” Wise displayed all her skills – power from the front and back rows, tough and tremendous vision on the fly to find open spots on the floor. “You see her when the ball is in the air coming to her – and it went to her every time – she’d take a look over our defense while the ball was in the air and decide where she was going to hit and then track the ball and hit it there,” Boyd coach Clark Oberle said of Wise. The Brahmas prevailed in their first trip to the state finals.
