Stimulus update: Direct, one-time $800 South Carolina tax rebate to be sent in 3 days
The amount that one will receive from this rebate depends on their 2021 tax liability, which is the amount left over after subtracting credits from the income tax that the person may owe. The maximum amount that recipients can receive has been capped to $800, according to the South Carolina Department of Revenue.
The rebate will be paid to recipients via the same bank accounts in which people received their 2021 refund. Recipients who have filed their 2021 SC1040 tax forms by Oct. 17 can expect this payment before New Year's Eve, according to the state's Department of Revenue.Recipients whose tax liabilities are less than $800 will have their rebate value equal to their tax liability. For people whose tax liability is $800 or more, they will receive exactly $800 due to the limit.
Recipients can track this payment online to get an idea of when they will receive the refund. To use the tracking site, filers will need either their Social Security number or the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number from their SC1040 form.South Carolina residents still have time to file their 2021 returns and get this payment because the deadline has been set for Feb. 15 of next year. Anyone who files now after missing the initial Oct. 17 deadline will receive a rebate in March 2023.
