The city of Pitcairn, New York, will return its leftover COVID-19 relief funds to its residents in the form of a gift card.
Pitcairn residents will receive a $100 gift card that will be redeemable at a handful of local businesses, according to the town's Facebook page.“The board decided that we should give back to the citizens, the residents of the town,” Paul Jackson, town board member, told 7 News WWNYTV.
There are 294 eligible resident homeowners from 2020 who are eligible for the gift card, and they are being handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. The gift cards will be for Chuck's Market, Bonaparte Pharmacy, Sliders, and Dollar General. A head of the household will be given a choice of which one they want.Proof of residency will be required to receive the gift card to prove residents maintained a home in Pitcairn during 2020. Residents can present a license, utility bill, tax bill, or other records to a town board member.
Gift cards will be handed out on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., June 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and June 14 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
