Delaware residents only have until the end of this month to submit their applications for the latest round of relief checks worth up to $300.
The state of Delaware has so far issued over 782,000"relief rebates" featuring a direct payment of $300 for each adult Delaware resident, but thousands more residents qualify for the disbursement, according to state officials.
"If you've already been sent to check you can contact our office, and we can work with you to verify your identification and get the check forwarded to you or you can pick it up in our offices,” said state Secretary of Finance Rick Geisenberger. “And if you've not been sent a check you can apply if you meet the qualifications to apply for a rebate."To qualify for this payment, applicants must be residents of Delaware who were 18 and older living in the state on Dec. 31, 2021.
Online applicants must provide valid Delaware residential mailing addresses, Social Security numbers, and active driver’s licenses or identification cards that were issued by Dec. 31, 2021. The portal opened at the start of the month and will close at 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 30. After that, no additional applications will be accepted, according to the state government.
Delaware Gov. John Carney signed legislation establishing the 2022 Delaware Relief Rebate Program back in April. It was projected to return $230 million to taxpayers.Payments had rolled out to residents who filed their 2020 Delaware income taxes, but the state has created a pathway for people who did not file a 2020 tax return. Applications for the pathway are available online at DE.gov/rebate.
