A Chelsea city spokesperson told the Washington Examiner the money is loaded onto debit cards, which were first issued to recipients in early March.This payment marks the third and final payment of the program, which arrived on the 15th of each month.
The amount issued to recipients depends on how many people are in their household. A household of one receives $200, a household of two receives $300, and a household of three or more receives $400, according to the Chelsea Eats program website.To be eligible, families had to have been residents of Chelsea with a household income of 30% less than the area median. Households of one must make less than $29,450, and households of two must make less than $33,650 to be part of the program.
