Asian Games - Hangzhou 2022 - Athletics - Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, Hangzhou, China - October 2, 2023 Singapore’s Veronica Shanti Pereira poses after winning the Women’s 200m final. Mum Jeet said the tension before Monday night's race -- which Pereira won in 23.03sec, well clear of China's Li Yuting in second -- was unbearable. Of the recent move to become a professional sprinter, Pereira said: “When I had the chance, I jumped right in.”
