San Diego State limits San Jose State to just 14 first-half points — then holds Spartans without a basket early in second half, too
It was for a few games there, as teams had their way with the vaunted San Diego State defense and put up numbers not seen in these parts for a while. The metrics told a similar story, with the Aztecs’ offensive efficiency briefly surpassing its defensive efficiency this week for the first time in 13 seasons.
It kept SDSU alone in first place in the Mountain West as it enters what, on paper at least, figures to be the most important three-game stretch of the season: at Nevada on Tuesday, home against second-place Boise State on Friday, at Utah State the following Wednesday. The difference was that they forged their big lead against the Aggies with offense, thanks to six 3-pointers by Adam Seiko before halftime.
