Financing issues almost forced Steven Spielberg to take Lincoln to HBO: 'I don’t know if I could have talked Daniel Day-Lewis into doing six hours, but I was on the brink of that.'
Steven Spielberg reveals that his Lincoln movie almost went to HBO as a limited series. Daniel Day-Lewis won his third career Best Actor Oscar for portraying the iconic 16th president of the United States in Spielberg’s drama about the behind-the-scenes political battle over passage of the historic Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution.
Appearing recently on the SmartlLess podcast with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, director Spielberg revealed that at one point he was ready to give up on making Lincoln as a film due to financing issues. Check out Spielberg’s remarks in the space below :
