Steven Spielberg “Broke Down Quite A Bit” Making Autobiographical ‘The Fabelmans,’ Producer Kristy Macosko Krieger Says
“On set, he broke down quite a bit,” Krieger said. “Sometimes it was joy. Sometimes it was sadness. Sometimes it was being able to have his parents back for a little bit of time.”
As Sammy grows up, he becomes more observant about the conflict between his parents and their eventual divorce. Krieger said she was aware of the importance of creating a protective environment for Spielberg. Krieger added that Spielberg had expected the screenwriting process to bring back all those memories. He was surprised he wasn’t finished by the time of production.
