ICYMI: The Guardians will go for the series win against Minnesota today after beating the Twins, 4-3, on Saturday night.

Leadoff hitter Steven Kwan, all 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds of him, homered over the wall in right center field with two out in the seventh inning with the score tied, 3-3, off Jorge Alcala . It was Kwan’s first homer of the season and the Guardians’ first since April 29 against Boston when Andrés Giménez bounced one off Pesky’s Pole at Fenway Park about 300 feet from the plate.

The contrast between Kwan’s homer and how his teammates scored their first three runs was hard to miss. Ditto for how the Twins scored their three runs. “If I could hit a home run every time, I’d definitely love to,” said Kwan. “Our kind of baseball is just pushing through. We had some good opportunities I had a chance to break it open with the bases loaded, but it didn’t get done .Twins starter Sonny Gray entered the game as one of the hottest pitchers in the big leagues. He opened the game with four straight outs before Josh Bell reached on a single to the hole at short with one out in the second.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli was ejected for arguing that Ramírez went out of the baseline to avoid Miranda’s tag. Bell made it 2-0 with a single to left. It was the only hit of the inning that left the infield.
