The 38-year-old midfielder is preparing for his first game in the dugout against Aris Limassol in the Europa League.
Interim Rangers boss Steven Davis insists the Ibrox squad DOES possess enough quality to turn around a rotten start to the season that landed Michael Beale the sack.
Davis will be assisted by former Gers midfielder Alex Rae, Brian Gilmour, Steven Smith and Colin Stewart. And speaking for the first time since being handed the reigns, the rookie interim boss vowed to put the pride back into the club by tackling the job with the same commitment he did as a player. “I like to play football in a certain way but ultimately you have to get results. That’s first and foremost at a club like Rangers and that’s what the expectation is.
“I believe we can go on and start building something. I know exactly that they are capable of and what they’ve got and what their strengths are. Hopefully with the team and the staff we can let that flourish. The 38-year-old, Northern Ireland’s record appearance holder with 140 caps, admits he will lean on that knowledge in his first managerial position.
“I just want to try and get results back in place where we’d like them to be. It’s going to be a joint effort between myself and the rest of the staff.”
