"HATE RISING: 07 October" is the latest in our series of roundtable discussions about Antisemitism in America and around the world.r 15th. Mears attended his first CBJ game as a student at Bowling Green on November 17, 2000 when Columbus hosted the Panthers.

“I would announce while I played on the driveway, drove them insane they hated that,” recalled Mears. “I used to announce while playing video games. I was an obnoxious child basically, but it was just the love of the game. Little did I know it was getting me used to the flow of calling a hockey game.”

“You just want to go somewhere where you’re appreciated and you want to go somewhere where the sport matters and I’ve been really fortunate to work for three teams with passionate fan bases,” said Mears. “The first draft I covered was in 2007 right here at Nationwide. I know what Ohio is all about, and the hockey fans here so it was a no brainer. When I heard the job would eventually be opening I jumped all over it.
