Liverpool face an anxious wait over the severity of Andy Robertson's shoulder injury
Scotland manager Steve Clarke has revealed Andy Robertson will return to Liverpool with a shoulder injury.
Robertson was on the receiving end of a challenge which saw Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper, Unai Simon, land awkwardly on the defender. Clarke was coy on the nature of the defender's shoulder injury but admitted his hopes that the Scotland skipper can return quickly for club and country, as they eye European Championships qualification.
The 29-year-old will not continue with the national team as their preparations turn to their friendly against France on Tuesday. Clarke confirmed that he will return to Liverpool for further tests."It always seem to happen when you lose one player in that position so we lose Kieran off the left side and Andy's picked up a shoulder injury.
Jurgen Klopp will be anxiously awaiting the diagnosis of his first-choice left-back. However, the German will also have a keen eye on Kostas Tsimikas' involvement for Greece in their two European Championships qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and Holland.
