Scotland lost 3-1 at home to England on Tuesday evening
Scotland boss Steve Clarke admitted that too many people have got carried away with their recent form after England turned his Tartan Army side over 3-1 at Hampden on Tuesday.
But it's this form and glee that may have made Scotland complacent in the Auld Enemy clash, according to Clarke - who believes that people are getting 'too carried away' with their recent run, gesturing that patience is needed with the nation trying to slowly improve instead of making a huge and riskier immediate step-up to the levels of France, England and the like.
He said: "Quite a lot [went wrong] to be honest. First half we didn't really get started and England started great, they dominated the first half and dominated the ball. We couldn't get hold of it. Asked if the occasion against England had got into his players minds, however, Clarke instantly refuted those claims - although he admitted the country had rightly or wrongly been in dreamland over their Euro 2024 qualification form.
