Former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce believes Jose Mourinho is the best manager that the club has had since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement a decade ago.
Prior to Erik ten Hag's arrival at the club last year, however, United had failed to win a single piece of silverware since Mourinho's departure, meaning their League Cup triumph over Newcastle United in February this year marked their first major trophy in six years. The Dutchman, despite the current rut United find themselves in, has done a good job since taking charge.
"I don't think you can ever criticise him because [of what he has won]. When the word 'great' comes into it, he is in that conversation. He has to be." Having won the famous trophy three times, the Reds have a wonderful history in the European Cup. Now the Dutchman has to live up to that legacy.
