Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon will plead guilty in a fraud case alleging that he tricked donors who gave money toward building a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border.Bannon agreed to plead guilty in the case in exchange for avoiding prison time.His lawyer made the revelation to Law360, which first reported the news.
The former Trump adviser also spent four months in jail last year after he was found guilty of contempt of Congress for refusing to testify before the House select committee that investigated the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.Bannon was first indicted in connection to the sham charity in August 2020, when federal prosecutors charged him and three codefendants with defrauding donors.
