Stephen King says he’s done with X, formerly known as Twitter.
The famous author made the announcement on his X account Thursday afternoon, calling the social media platform “toxic.”
“I’m leaving Twitter. Tried to stay, but the atmosphere has just become too toxic. Follow me on Threads, if you like,”King’s post has gained more than 1 million views, but he turned off the ability to comment. The 77-year-old has also seemingly deleted all previous posts on X besides his departure announcement.
King has previously been vocal about his criticism of X’s owner, Elon Musk, including calling some of Musk’s claims about the presidential election “ridiculous.”, earlier this month, King criticized Musk’s political stance, writing, “The Musk-man has posted 3,000 times on Twitter in the last month. Most are pro-Trump disinformation and outright lies. Remember, he has skin in the game. Consider his posts accordingly.
