Stephen King's Autopsy Room Four short story, originally published in 1997, is being turned into a movie directed by Ranjeet S. Marwa.
Autopsy Room Four was first published in King’s Six Stories collection in 1997. It also appeared in the Robert Bloch’s Psychos anthology the same year.The story “delves into the mind of a man who, after a life-threatening accident, wakes up to find himself trapped in an autopsy room,” Deadline’s description of the plot reads. “As he confronts his own mortality, the story navigates themes of fear, survival, and the unknown.
Following its publications in Six Stories and Robert Bloch’s Psychos, Autopsy Room Four was collected in 2002’s Everything’s Eventual. It was then adapted into an hour-long episode of television featured on the Turner Network Television miniseries Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King.
Marwa’s previous filmography includes 2018’s Memoirs of a Sikh Soldier, 2019’s The Missing, 2022’s Rupture, 2023’s Spring Lakes, and 2024’s Ballistic, among other titles. According to Deadline, his 2012 short titled The Man Who Loved Flowers is inspired by King’s work.Levin was an executive producer on 2019’s In the Tall Grass, a movie that is based on King and Joe Hill’s 2012 novella of the same name.
Levin has also been involved with projects such as 2017’s The Breadwinner, 2017’s Marshall, 2020’s Stargirl, 2020’s Cut Throat City, and more. No casting information for Autopsy Room Four has been announced at this time.
