who most viciously blasted Trump for that remark, and the rest of his commentary throughout the virtual town hall.Late ShowColbert spent more than 10 minutes blasting the interview, taking apart Trump’s words nearly line-by-line. At one point, Trump sought to praise the public-at-large for its commitment to social distancing measures and said, “I really think the public has been incredible. That’s one of the reasons we've been successful. If you call losing 80 or 90,000 people successful.

Impersonating the president, Colbert went off: “I don’t get it. No matter how many times I tell states to reopen and people to party on the beach the number just keeps going up. If this doesn't stop soon, I’m going to have to have Dr.“No surprise, Trump is lying. He's willfully endangering the lives of Americans and we know this,” Colbert added, citing areleased Monday that revealed internal administration data showed 3,000 Americans could die daily of coronavirus by June.
While Trump and the administration have tried to position the government response to the coronavirus pandemic as athere remains widespread evidence to the contrary and a notable lack of consensus planning on the best way to safely reengage the population while the virus remains a threat.
